Bridgetown High School’s 60th anniversary celebration begins in earnest with an open day at the high school on Saturday the 6th of September from 10am to 3.00pm. Tours of the school will be conducted by current students with six decades of memorabilia on display.
Photography and Art displays by current students will be showcased as part of the event while entertainment will be provided by the school’s current and former music students and staff.
Tours of the school can be booked on site from 9.30am and refreshments will be available all day from the school canteen. Interested parties are encouraged to bring along their own memories to share in the form of photos, stories, certificates and reports. Display space will be available for those wishing to contribute.
In addition, the school’s new drama studio will officially be opened by the Alumni Chairperson, Scott Robinson. He, the Honourable Robyn McSweeney MLC, and major sponsor Gerry McLernon, will then unveil the commemorative plaque at 12pm.
Celebrations at the school conclude at 3pm – but there are numerous events planned for the remainder of the evening at other venues.
Class reunions and music from former students featuring Joel Barker & Peter Dewing, Cam Barker, Tracey Barnett, Ian Camus, Michelle Camus, Beth Carlessi-Barker, Justin Freind, Donna Henning & Alana Shedley, Zoe Ryan, Steve Schrama, Gavin Walker, Stasia Worthington & Band, Anthony Buttaccio and Scott Robinson will be taking place at various locations around town including The Cidery, The Emporium and the Bridgetown Hotel while the Bridgetown Civic Centre will host an event entitled “Dance the Night Away”.
The 60th anniversary celebration at the school is an open event and past students and staff as well as current students, staff and members of the community are encouraged to attend.
